PSYC 8370 Class Objectives:
A class with particular emphasis placed on the research, analysis, design, and evaluation of interfaces for (a) machinery, (b) environments, and (c) other systems. Particular emphasis will be placed on perception, cognition, decision making, and physical characteristics of humans in the context of these interfaces. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to conduct an analysis to identify and evaluate human/system functions and goals while considering human/system demands and characteristics, and performance tasks. Student performance will be accomplished via a series of assignments, activities, readings, class interactions and tests.
The Objectives for Human Factors Psychology (PSYC 8370) are:
1. Collect, summarize, analyze, and interpret data utilizing uni-variate and multivariate statistical procedures
2. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the knowledge, research and theories appropriate to the M.S. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology by developing written responses to program questions.
3. Develop, administer, and evaluate tests and assessment techniques as related to personnel and organizational issues
Course Requirements: (2): Design and evaluate a human factors project. The topic of this design will be determined via collaboration between student and instructor. (25%)
